Mr. Saks practices in all areas of real estate law, having represented clients in various types of real estate transactions as well as in land use proceedings and tax certiorari matters. Prior to forming Boris Saks, Esq. PLLC, Mr. Saks was a Senior Attorney at a mid-size firm in New York City and was previously associated with two other law firms in Manhattan. Mr. Saks also served as Legal Counsel to the New York City Department of Finance.
Mr. Saks has represented clients in purchases and sales of residential and commercial properties, commercial leases and financing transactions. Mr. Saks has appeared before the New York City Board of Standards and Appeals, Department of City Planning, Landmarks Preservation Commission, City Council, Borough Presidents, Community Boards, Tax Commission and various State Courts. He has negotiated substantial tax assessment reductions and has been involved in tax certiorari proceedings for properties outside of New York City including complex litigation and arbitration for the owners of regional shopping centers in Albany and upstate New York. In addition, Mr. Saks has handled applications for real estate tax exemptions on behalf of developers, real estate owners and non-profit institutions.
Mr. Saks has written articles and lectured publicly on property tax certiorari and exemption matters. He is a committee member of various Bar Associations and an active member of several community organizations.
